Question number two: how do I merge the two profiles?

3) Probably not.
4) Because you've become distracted by the blogosphere and from now on will not be able to do anything useful apart from check your blog for comments and think about your next post.
You have been warned!
Welcome to the blogosphere, hope you enjoy it.
PS - if you want me to write your essay for you, we can negotiate terms.
Ah, but you see, I'd already had a blogger bloggie, way back in the days. But because my new account somehow overwrote my old one, I can't log into it anymore, so that blog's as good as fossilized.
As for the blogosphere, it's been the bane of my productivity for years and years. My current active blog is on LJ. I'm just acquiring a second property. A dacha of sorts.
Your offer to help with the essay is well-appreciated, but I'm afraid I'll have to decline. I never let anyone help me with intellectual work. It's a question of pride.
